Salesmen have been known for being slick and dishonest. Such movies as Used Cars, and The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard, give the impression that the only way to sell a car is to use trickery or some form of deceptiveness. Many car dealers have gone a long way in proving these facts wrong. For years, car salesman made their money on commissions. No commissions, no sales. No sales, no food, electricity, and rent. Thus the pressure was on.
The old adage let the buyer beware has been the watchword for many years. The idea was, was looking for a car, especially a used one, you had to know your stuff and make sure the person you’re working with have your best interest at heart.
Though most car salesmen are not what they are perceived to be, there are enough of this type that should make you wary when looking for your car.
There are several types of car salesmen ranging from smooth operators to straight to the point type of salesmen. There are others that don’t tell if not asked. Also, there are women car salesmen alongside men. Are women better car salesmen than men?
The fact remains that women prefer not dealing with car salesmen while searching for a car. Though, they might change their minds if the salesman turns out to be a woman. After all they reason she must understand what I’m going through.
In addition, most women have a softer approach. This thus draws people who would have rather ran away making them better salesmen.
Women are good listeners as they also seek attention. For this, women prefer women too men.
A question that puts women down when they are buying cars is shouldn’t your husband me there with you? With women salesman, you’re not going to get that. They presume that you are aware of what you want when you come to the car yard. Additionally, these women have been through this and understand what you are going through.
Women put their trust in other women and feel that they understand each other. Empathy is one thing that is very significant when it comes to sales. Sales is really about emotion. Women know how to use emotion much better than men.
A lot of men get to deal with women salesmen. The thought process is that she can’t know more than them, therefore they feel less threatened by woman sales person. That’s an advantage to the woman salesman, especially an honest one, who just wants to do a good job and earn a day’s pay.
